Yokohama F. Marinos is delighted to announce welcoming its new Manager, Steve Corica.
Steve Corica played professional football in Australia, England and Japan before retiring at the age of 37. He then began his coaching career as a youth team coach at Sydney FC.
Corica was appointed head coach of Sydney FC in 2018 after holding several coaching positions at the club, including first-team assistant coach. Sydney FC won the A-League Championship in 2018/19 and completed a Premiership–Championship double in 2019/20 under Corica.
In 2024, Corica was appointed inaugural Manager of Auckland FC. Auckland FC secured the Premiership as regular-season winners in its A-League debut season in 2024/25, while Corica received both the A-League Coach of the Year and PFA A-League Coach of the Year awards. In 2025/26, he guided the club to the A-League Championship.
Corica faced Yokohama F. Marinos in the AFC Champions League while managing Sydney FC and has an understanding of Japanese football as well as experience in Asian continental competitions.
I am incredibly proud and honoured to be returning to Japan. My first experience here was as a player, and now to come back as Manager of such a fantastic football club is a privilege that means a great deal to me. I would like to thank Yokohama F. Marinos Sporting Director, Mr Suzuki, for the faith and trust he has shown in me. My staff and I will work tirelessly and are determined not to let him or the club down. Yokohama F. Marinos is a club with a proud history and high expectations. I have come here with a clear ambition – to win trophies, restore a winning mentality and re-establish the culture and standards that have made this club one of the most successful in Japan. I want our team to play exciting football, compete for titles and make our supporters proud every time we take the field. I am excited by the challenge ahead and will give everything I have to bring success to Yokohama F. Marinos and their incredible supporters. I look forward to meeting all the players and staff and beginning preparations for the new season. Together, I believe we can create something special and build a team that our fans can be proud of.
